MR WAS HIRED BY REAL ESTATE DEVELOPER GALE INTERNATIONAL TO CREATE THE INTERIORS OF A NEW LUXURY RESIDENTIAL BUILDING IN NEW YORK’S FLATIRON NEIGHBORHOOD. THE BUILDING’S ARCHITECTURAL RENOVATION AND ADDITIONS WERE DESIGNED BY RENOWNED NEW-YORK BASED FIRM BEYER BLINDER BELLE.
THE 15-STORY BUILDING COMPRISES A NARROW TOWER WITH EIGHT SINGLE FLOOR UNITS AND AN ADDITIONAL FOUR PENTHOUSE UNITS BUILT OVER AN ADJACENT LANDMARKED BUILDING WHICH ALLOWED THE UNITS TO HAVE MORE THAN 100 FT OF STREET FRONT EXPOSURE. THE TOP TWO UNITS ARE UNIQUE IN THAT ONE IS A DUPLEX WITH TERRACES AND THE SECOND ONE HAS THE LARGEST SHARE OF THE EXTERIOR SPACE. MR DESIGNED THE LOBBY AND COMMON AMENITIES OF THE BUILDING AS WELL. COMMON TO ALL APARTMENTS ARE OPEN PLAN KITCHEN/LIVING/DINING AREAS, PRIMARY BEDROOMS WITH ENSUITE BATHROOMS, SECONDARY BEDROOMS WITH WALK-IN CLOSETS, AMPLE STORAGE SPACE AND HIGH-END FIXTURES, FITTINGS AND HARDWARE.
MR USED A SOPHISTICATED TONE-ON-TONE MATERIALS PALETTE OF NATURAL WHITE OAK VENEER AND WIDE-PLANK, RIFT-CUT WHITE OAK FLOORING FOR THE APARTMENTS LIGHT-FILLED INTERIORS. THE KITCHENS INCLUDE CUSTOM WOOD AND STAINLESS-STEEL MILLWORK AND MARBLE COUNTER TOPS. BATHROOM FINISHES INCLUDE CORIAN, LIMESTONE, CLEAR GLASS FOR SHOWER ENCLOSURES AND POLISHED BLACK NICKEL HARDWARE. THE DETAILING THROUGHOUT IS DECIDEDLY CLEAN AND CLASSICALLY MODERN.
